Canada’s National Ballet School (NBS) is excited to invite applications for the full-time contract position of a Sales Floor Lead. About Us:
The Shoe Room, a ballet boutique based in Toronto, Canada, was founded in 1998 by Canada’s National Ballet School to share our pointe shoe fitting expertise with the broader community. All proceeds from The Shoe Room are returned to NBS to support programs that offer meaningful dance experiences to people of all ages and abilities and ensure that talented youth can realize their full potential regardless of financial barriers. We strive to ensure every dancer finds their perfect pointe shoe. The boutique holds over 8,000 pairs of pointe shoes in a variety of skin tones and offers the largest selection in Canada. Our expert fitters have traveled throughout North America fitting both Professional Company dancers and students from private studios. Our state of the art pointe shoe fitting space allows a one-on-one private experience with our highly trained fitters surrounded by beautiful pointe shoes, while our Virtual Pointe Shoe Fittings have allowed us to enter studios around the globe. Our dancewear collections include Canadian designers and unique finds. We understand the lifestyle of a dancer and the importance of providing inclusive styles that provide fit and function without sacrificing style.
Your Role:
As a Sales Floor Lead, you will support the management team in retail operations at NBS’ The Shoe Room through sales staff supervision/training, daily cleaning, customer service, opening and closing procedures and by contributing to the overall success of the department’s goals.

Your Role:
As a Sales Floor Lead, you will support the management team in retail operations at NBS’ The Shoe Room through sales staff supervision/training, daily cleaning, customer service, opening and closing procedures and by contributing to the overall success of the department’s goals.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve customers by answering questions, delivering product knowledge, and processing transactions including approving returns/defects and handling customer complaints
- Lead team to maintain a safe and clean store/working environment
- Participate in store opening/closing procedures and cash exchanges as needed
- Offer input to amend procedures, guidelines and operation manuals
- Contribute to inventory maintenance and yearly inventory count
- Contribute to visual merchandise changes within the store and stocking store displays/racks and refolding or steaming items with direction as needed
- Aid in training new employees in standard store operations and procedures as needed under guidance from Key Holder/Department Manager
- Ongoing supervision of staff
- Contribute to team effort by participating in additional TSR revenue generating activities such as pop-up shops or NBS events as required
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Skills/Experience
- High school Diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of retail experience required and experience with supervision duties an asset
- Knowledge of dancewear/shoes and dance training
- Experience with POS and inventory systems
- Good knowledge of Cash handling and transaction processing
- Ability to communicate professionally and clearly
- Strong customer service orientation and professional demeanor
- High proficiency in English required, with proficiency in other language(s) considered an asset
- Novice ability with Microsoft Office
